Introduce yourself in Arabic

How to introduce yourself in Arabic?

It's very easy to introduce yourself in Arabic. By the end of this lesson #1, you, as a non-Arab, will be able to introduce yourself correctly and fluently.

Hello

Like English, "Hello" is one of the most-known greetings in the Arabic language.
It means in Arabic "marḥaban", and written as "مرحبا".

Adding some words to this greeting to enrich your Arabic knowledge.
In English when you meet someone for the first time you can tell them "Hello, it's nice to meet you".
We have just learnt how to say hello.

It's nice to meet you

"It's nice to meet you"
means in Arabic
"sa'idtu biliqaā'ik", and written as "سعدت بلقائك".

  • In English when asking for names you can say "what is your name?" which means "ma 'iismak" and written as "ما إسمك؟"

What is your name?

What is your name?
Ma yakun 'issmak?
This formula is correct but in Arabic, verb to be before nouns and adjectives is not translated, you can directly say
Ma yakun 'issmak? => Ma 'issmak?
  • In English, you can tell your name as like

My name is ..

"My name is Mohamed".
'iismi Mohamed.
Tip: verb to be isn't translated before nouns and adjectives as mentioned before.

Very good!
